Project name: Eastern Germany Electrolysis Corridor

Locations: 4 sites in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt

  • 210 MW electrolysis → 16,500 tonnes of hydrogen a year
  • Four hydrogen filling stations
  • Wind power and photovoltaic systems

CO2 saving: 135,000 tonnes a year

  • Commission 2027

In order to produce sufficient green hydrogen, electrolysers must be built on a large scale – and therefore plants that supply the required renewable electricity. ENERTRAG is doing both. The four electrolysis sites are located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt and form a transnational corridor along the doing hydrogen pipeline. The most important customer for the hydrogen is the Concrete Chemicals subproject at the Rüdersdorf site.

„Renewable energy needs hydrogen as a universal storage medium in order to balance generation and consumption. The development of a sustainable hydrogen infrastructure depends entirely on the consistent expansion of renewables. Eastern Germany offers the best conditions for this, which we must exploit as quickly as possible.“
